Are you ready to take your technical expertise to the next level? At Medtronic’s Rice Creek Manufacturing site, we are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Design Technician V to join our team. In this critical role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge manufacturing processes and equipment. You will also work closely with design and engineering teams to create fixtures, molds, test fixtures, and miscellaneous parts that require manufacturing using machine tools.

  • Program and operate various CNC vertical machining centers, Wire EDMs, manual grinders, lathes, and secondary operation equipment
  • Analyze drawings, sketches, models, and engineering or shop specifications to prepare metalworking dies, molds, and machine tool fixtures
  • Utilize machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments to calculate dimensions and ensure tolerances are met
  • Perform precision machining work to meet exacting tolerances and dimensions, while revising designs and solving problems as needed
  • Monitor and verify quality and safety compliance in alignment with Medtronic's standards.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience.
  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.

Nice to Have:

  • Prior experience in a tool room environment
  • Knowledge of setting up and running Haas vertical machining centers, lathes, and wire EDMs
  • Proficiency in programming using Mastercam software
  • Familiarity with navigating Creo Parametric
  • Understanding of cutting tool geometry and applications
  • Experience with vertical CNC machining centers
  • Ability to read and interpret advanced drawings with GD&T.
  • Skills in conceptualizing and sketching tools, fixtures, and gauges.
