In 2024, one of us sent 437 applications in nine months. Six years of solid experience, a clean resume, a strong network. The result: 19 phone screens, 3 interviews, 1 offer.
Then we pulled the data. Of those 437 postings: 82 had been live for more than 60 days with no recruiter activity — ghost jobs. 31 were re-posts of the same role somewhere else. 104 were formatted in a way that the employer's hiring software would chew up the work history into a single undated blob. The resume wasn't being rejected by people. It was being rejected by parsers, by re-posts, by listings that were never going to hire anybody.
That's the thesis. Not "AI will fix your career." Not "send 10x more applications in one click." Just: if the system is broken, build the one that actually works.
