The Opportunity:
The Patient Access Associate Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring a seamless and positive patient experience by accurately managing patient registration and access processes within the healthcare revenue cycle. This role ensures data integrity, regulatory compliance, and a positive patient experience while directly influencing revenue cycle KPIs such as registration accuracy, point-of-service collections, and first-pass claim rates. Serves as the first point of contact for patients onsite in healthcare facilities and are essential in supporting clinical and financial operations for financial health through accurate data entry, auditing, and communication. Strong attention to detail, compassion, and adherence to policies are essential for success in this role. The Patient Access Associate Specialist accurately assigns Medical Record Numbers (MRNs) and completes medical necessity and compliance checks. Collects and verifies patient demographic and insurance information, including point-of-service collections and payment plans. Processes physician orders, explains consent forms, retrieves required patient signatures, and distributes patient education documents. Utilizes auditing and reporting systems to ensure account accuracy and compliance and conducts audits as needed. Communicates patient financial responsibilities clearly and professionally. Delivers exceptional customer service with empathy and professionalism in all interactions. Maintains confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA guidelines. Supports other employees, departments, and facilities as needed. The Patient Access Associate Specialist performs additional duties as assigned, including answering phones, supporting other facilities, and completing administrative tasks.
