Target Shift Hours & Work Schedule Guide 2026
What shifts Target actually runs, how scheduling works for new hires, and how to request time off without drama.
Shift types
Target runs morning (5a–1p), mid (9a–5p), evening (2p–10p), and overnight (10p–6a) shifts at most locations. Weekends rotate; peak seasons add extended hours.
How scheduling works
Most stores post schedules 10–14 days ahead. New hires get training shifts for the first two weeks, then move to a steady pattern based on availability they submitted.
Part-time vs full-time
Part-time: 20–29 hrs/week, no benefits eligibility at most locations. Full-time: 32–40 hrs/week, benefits eligible. Hours can shift week to week.
How to request time off
Submit requests through the Target employee portal at least two weeks in advance. Include coverage suggestions where possible — approvals come faster.
