Broad Function and Purpose of Position:
The Supply Chain Manager for distribution is responsible for leading the planning team and the inventory health of the Sika distribution network. Inventory health includes product availability at our distribution centers, distribution center capacity management, inventory turns and minimizing storage, transportation and obsolescence costs. In summary, once a product is produced or purchased, the Supply Chain Manager and team are responsible to optimize our inventory, costs and resulting customer experience. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director, Supply Chain and may include other activities as assigned.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Grow, develop, and motivate a high performing team of distribution planning professionals.
- Maximize product turns and minimize scrap risk in the distribution network.
- Represent distribution network capacity with business and production planning.
- Ensure product categories assigned are stocked according to business targets.
- Partner with Demand Planners to ensure SKU location level forecast accuracy is improved.
- Business liaison between distribution, operations, customer service and business unit teams. Ensure product is proactively positioned to support customer demands.
- Monitor key customer scorecards and communicate discrepancies with the business team.
- Monitor finished goods inventory using demand forecasts, historical orders, and software tools to support operations and customer requirements.
- Monitoring customer demand at each distribution location ensure forecasts are appropriate by SKU location to attain the highest level of customer satisfaction with the lowest cost.
- Optimize the inventory velocity and minimize obsolete and aged inventory.
- Manage new product introductions and product eliminations while preventing scrap.
- Maintain open and direct communication with customer service and sales to ensure complete understanding of customer needs and requirements while coordinating with logistics to optimize the supply chain efficiency and costs.
- Oversee slow moving and obsolete administration with the business teams.
- Serve as the functional expert of the Inventory Optimization (IO) tool.
- Drive process efficiency improvements through automation and process simplification.
- Other duties as assigned by the Manager or Director.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or business management.
- 7+ years experience in manufacturing, supply chain, and/or forecasting in the chemical or retail industry. APICS certification a plus.
Special Requirements/Competencies:
- Must be able to read, write, speak and comprehend English.
- Must have good math skills, including the ability to work with fractions, decimals and percentages.
- Must be able to use Microsoft Office Programs and SAP as an intermediate user.
- Must have the ability to develop process expertise in order to facilitate troubleshooting.
- Must be able to maintain an excellent attendance record.
- Must be flexible to work any shift and overtime as business requires.
- Must be self-motivated and able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
