Job Summary:
Teledyne FLIR is searching for an experienced Accounting & Program Financial Analyst to support a portfolio of defense programs within the Detection business unit. This role serves as a key financial partner to program managers, engineering teams, and business leadership, providing budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, financial report, and program performance insights.
The successful candidate will support monthly financial close activities, analyze labor and material costs, monitor program performance against budgets and forecasts, and help ensure compliance with corporate financial policies and government contract requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Close
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals and adjustments, ensuring appropriate documentation and accuracy.
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations, investigate variances and resolve discrepancies.
- Support monthly and year-end close processes, ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Design, develop and maintain custom financial analysis tools and portfolio-level reporting frameworks to improve visibility, accuracy, and consistency across programs.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for leadership.
- Support long-range planning and annual operating plan processes.
Portfolio Management
- Drive performance of Contract and Internal Research and Development portfolios across multiple business units.
- Monitor project budgets, actuals, and forecasts to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Track and report on funding utilization, cost trends, and variances.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Acts as the primary financial interface between program managers, engineering teams, and business unit leaders to provide financial guidance.
- Coordinate with other business units to consolidate portfolio data and ensure consistency.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure adherence to corporate financial policies, US GAAP and government contract requirements.
- Support audits and internal reviews
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
- 5 - 8+ years of experience in accounting, finance or project analysis
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including financial modeling capabilities
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems required, SAP experience strongly preferred
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated continuous learning mindset and collaborative team orientation
