Inside the Role

As part of the Vehicle Configuration department within Product Engineering, the Compatibility & Project Order Processing group is responsible for maintaining the compatibility database for the Freightliner and Western brand family of vehicles as well as our virtual non-production and production orders that support the testing and validation of our projects. We collaborate with cross-functional PAR teams, to prepare and accelerate the maturity of documentation for new options and entire new vehicles. This group works closely with Sales, Engineering, Project Management, Product Strategy and Product Validation to create and update non-production orders to ensure a quality build that aligns with the project’s scope and meets the necessary timing requirement. With both tasks, our goal is to help increase efficiency in the order fulfillment process in both the Customer Application and Design Engineering departments and provide a reliable dataset that can be translated into rules required for DTNA’s dealer-facing specification tool, SpecPro. Our daily work environment is fast-paced and dynamic making accurate, robust, and easy-to-use data tools essential to delivering consistent, high-quality service to our internal and external customers.

Position offers a starting salary range of $65,000 to $83,000 USD

What you Drive at DTNA

  • Create and update compatibility logic rules stored in the IMS compatibility database as requested from our collaboration partners at DTNA
  • Collaborate with Design, Product Validation, Compliance, Customer Application Engineering, Product Strategy, Product Data Systems, Launch and Change Management, and Project Management to define new option timing and new product configuration rules.
  • Perform TSO (Truck Sales Order) backlog impact analysis and communicate assessments to rule requesters as required.
  • Read, interpret, and communicate compatibility rules to outside departments as required.
  • Facilitate exemption processing and communication as necessary to provide rapid and accurate responses to deviations from existing compatibility rules.

Knowledge you Should Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree, or similar OR an Associate’s degree + 2 years related experience OR 4 years related experience in lieu of degree in Business operations, administration, manufacturing, engineering support, data management, documentation control, supply chain or related field.
  • Previous DTNA internal experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with data entry, documentation management, or business systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Effective collaboration and networking skills
  • Adaptable to a variable customer service-oriented work environment fielding dozens of customer requests per day
  • Thrives on getting the details right, accuracy, precision

Exceptional Candidate Might Have

  • Sales Order Processing & Databook, Engineering & Manufacturing Release, Product Definitions, and Vehicle Specs experience
  • IMACS application experience
  • Strong truck product knowledge
  • Ease with creating and adhering to Standard Operating Procedures, and Work Instructions with the wisdom to know when it may be necessary to deviate from or rewrite the standard.
  • Working knowledge in using SharePoint, OneNote, and/or Wiki’s as a team collaboration tool
  • Strong Continuous Improvement mindset
