Summary

As a Transactions Assistant, working in collaboration with and in support of the firm’s strategic initiatives, you will assist the paralegals and/or attorneys by maintaining and organizing files; preparing and updating closing checklists; preparing and compiling transaction documents; updating and maintaining databases; preparing closing books, obtaining information for internal and external sources, and performing other administrative tasks.

Location

This position is located in our Chicago office and offers a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Organize documents for attorney review.
  • Research public records using internal and public websites.
  • Prepare and update closing checklists, prepare closing books, make copies, and organize and maintain files.
  • Perform database research and data entry.
  • Assist with transaction closings.
  • Obtain signatures and compile execution versions of closing documents with necessary exhibits.
  • Assist paralegals and attorneys with mailings and filings.
  • Other duties.

Desired Skills

Demonstrated basic level of proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and database experience. Office experience in a law firm environment supporting paralegals and/or attorneys preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required to interact with paralegals, attorneys and clients on a regular basis. Excellent organizational and attention-to-detail skills necessary to manage volumes of documents, binders, letters, charts, etc. Must have the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to prioritize multiple assignments to meet deadlines.

Minimum Education

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor’s degree.

Certificates

  • Paralegal certificate preferred.

Minimum Years of Experience

  • 1 year demonstrated success working in a fast-paced environment.

The firm’s expected hiring range for this position is $34.09 - $44.32 per hour depending on the candidate’s geographic market location. Non-exempt positions will be paid on an hourly basis and paid overtime in accordance with applicable laws.

The compensation offered for employment will also be dependent on other factors including the candidate’s experience, skills, educational and professional background, and overall qualifications. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k).
