Full job description
The Fire Alarm Support Technician supports licensed and experienced technicians in the inspection, testing, and documentation of fire alarm systems, specifically within Test & Inspect operations. This role works under direct supervision of a technician(s).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist technicians with scheduled inspections and testing of fire alarm systems.
- Support testing activities such as device activation, alarm verification, and system checks under supervision.
- Help document inspection and testing results in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Identify and report visible deficiencies or irregularities to supervising technicians.
- Assist with preparation of tools, materials, and documentation required for inspections.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure proper handling of inspection forms and reports.
- Follow all safety procedures, NFPA guidelines, and company policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment on job sites.
- Participate in on-the-job training to learn fire alarm codes, standards, and testing procedures.
- Travel to job sites as required.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Education/Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- No prior fire alarm or industry experience is required.
- Strong willingness to learn inspection and testing procedures in the fire protection industry.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work under direct supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and safety.
- Must have a clean driving record and active driver’s license (if driving role).
Other Duties:
- Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and standing for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
- Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
- Work is performed in occupied commercial buildings, industrial facilities, and construction sites.
- Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
- Use of basic hand tools and testing equipment under supervision.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
Pay
- $25/hr - $35/hr (Depending on Experience)
