# Job Description

## Position Summary:

The successful candidate should have a strong interest in the diagnosis and medical and radiation therapy treatment of complex cancer conditions in primarily dogs, cats, and exotics.  The successful candidate is expected to provide superior patient care by utilizing CSU’s cuttingedge advanced imaging, radiation therapy equipment, and diagnostic technologies while collaborating with numerous other specialty services.  Clinical duties will consist of supervision of patient & client care for patients presented to the oncology service as well as the radiation oncology service specifically. Duties of the successful candidate will include teaching of veterinary students, interns, and residents.  Participation in weekly didactic resident training including journal clubs, and daily student case rounds will be encouraged.  The faculty of the Radiation Oncology Service DO NOT provide support for after-hours emergencies however the successful candidate will be expected to provide after-hours support for radiation oncology house officers.

## Essential Duties:

  • Consultation oversight allowing for medical management of radiation oncology cases using clinical presentation and diagnostic results to provide differential diagnoses and medical and/or radiation treatment options.
  • Management of cases with multiple co-morbidities and potential post-treatment complications
  • Performance and supervision of radiation planning and treatment procedures.
  • Clinical teaching of students, interns and residents.

## Supervision:

No formal supervisory duties

## Condition of Employment:

  • Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires)
  • Essential Services Designation: Required to report without delay or interruption to provide essential or emergency services to ensure health, safety and welfare.
  • Use, Handling, or Exposure to hazardous materials: radiation

## Minimum Qualifications:

  • DVM or equivalent degree
  • American College of Veterinary Radiology Radiation Therapy (ACVR-RO) board certification
  • Eligibility to obtain a State of Colorado Veterinary License (either Academic or full license)

## Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated history of excellence in clinical work
  • Demonstrated collaboration in a multi-specialty hospital setting
  • Experience and comfort with instruction of veterinary students, interns and residents
