About the Role
The Cheese Shop in Concord, MA is looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Cheesemonger to join our team! This is a fantastic opportunity for a cheese enthusiast to share their love of artisan and specialty cheeses with a community of dedicated food lovers. Responsibilities
- Assist customers in selecting cheeses by providing expert guidance, tasting notes, and pairing recommendations
- Cut, wrap, and portion domestic and imported specialty cheeses to order and for display cases
- Maintain a well-stocked, visually appealing cheese counter with proper rotation and freshness standards
- Monitor cheese aging, storage temperatures, and humidity to ensure optimal product quality
- Build and curate charcuterie boards, cheese plates, and custom gift arrangements
- Stay current on new and seasonal cheese offerings, producers, and industry trends
- Receive and inspect incoming cheese shipments and manage inventory accurately
Requirements
- Prior experience in specialty cheese retail, fine food, or a related culinary field preferred but NOT necessary
- Excellent customer service and communication skills with a warm, approachable demeanor
- Comfortable standing for extended periods and handling/lifting product up to 40 lbs
- Passion for specialty foods, local producers, and the art of cheesemongering
