About the Role
BIK Orthopedics PC a large othopaedic practice in the Financial District in New York is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Medical Secretary Coordinator to join their team in a temp-to-perm capacity. Responsibilities
- Excellent customer service and patient facing position.
- Greet and check in patients, ensuring a welcoming and professional front desk experience.
- Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments using EPIC medical scheduling EHR system.
- Experience with insurance verification and eligibility. Responsible for obtaining authorizations and referrals.
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls, take messages, and respond to patient inquiries.
- Prepare and maintain accurate patient records, charts, and medical documentation.
- Scanning documents into the EPIC EHR system.
- Proficient knowledge of insurance pre-certifications.
- Experience with Workers Compensation and No-Fault requirements.
- Obtaining correct billing information and collect co-pays at time of service.
- Minimum of one-year prior medical office experience.
- Team support is necessary for patient flow.
- Performs other duties as needed.
Requirements
- Punctuality and accountability are essential.
- Prior experience as a Medical Secretary Coordinator.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with orthopedics or a specialty medical practice is a plus.
- Proficiency with EPIC EMR/EHR systems and medical scheduling software.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and referral processes.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
