About the Role
East Tennessee Gastroenterology PLLC is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our growing team in Cleveland, TN. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced gastroenterology specialists in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment where your skills truly make a difference every day. We offer a 4-day work week (Monday-Thursday).
Responsibilities
- Assist physicians and clinical staff with patient examinations and GI procedures
- Room patients, obtain vital signs, and document medical histories in the EHR system
- Prepare and maintain exam rooms, ensuring proper sanitation and equipment readiness
- Administer medications and injections as directed by the supervising physician
- Coordinate patient scheduling, referrals, and follow-up appointments
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding pre-procedure instructions and care plans
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assistant certification (CMA or RMA) preferred
- Prior clinical experience in a medical office or specialty practice preferred 1-5 years.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, particularly GI-related conditions, is a plus
- Excellent interpersonal and patient communication skills
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a busy, team-oriented clinical setting
- CPR/BLS certification required or ability to obtain upon hire
