Position Summary
The Benefits Generalist provides administrative, and operational support for associate benefit and wellness programs. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of benefit data, supporting reconciliations and financial tracking, and assisting with billing, enrollment, and compliance processes. The position partners with internal teams and external vendors to resolve routine issues, maintain documentation, and support audits and reporting. Additionally, the Benefits Generalist contributes to wellness program administration and associate engagement efforts, helping to drive efficient program operations and a positive associate experience.
Duties & Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
- Support administration of associate benefit programs by maintaining accurate data across HRIS, payroll, and vendor systems and assisting with enrollment, billing, reporting, and eligibility processes.
- Perform regular benefit reconciliations by comparing vendor invoices to payroll deductions, identifying discrepancies, and supporting timely resolution to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Track benefit expenses and assist with budget monitoring, reporting, and cost analysis, contributing to forecasting and financial planning efforts.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve billing, eligibility, and claims-related issues, ensuring efficient program operations.
- Maintain detailed records and documentation to support audits, compliance requirements, and internal controls.
- Support wellness program administration, including managing communications, maintaining platform data, tracking participation, and assisting with engagement initiatives.
- Assist with audits, renewals, and special projects, including merger-related benefit integration and process improvements.
- Respond to associate inquiries and provide general administrative and operational support to the Benefits team.
Education & Experience
Education, Experience & Skills Required
Knowledge of:
- Basic understanding of associate benefits and payroll deductions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (basic formulas, spreadsheets, data review).
- Using HRIS, payroll, and vendor systems.
- Data reconciliation and basic analysis.
- Maintaining confidentiality when handling associate information.
Ability to:
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Follow established processes and meet deadlines consistently.
- Communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Collaborate effectively with the team.
- Demonstrate willingness to learn and develop benefits knowledge.
- Exhibit strong organizational and time management skills.
Education and Training
- Associate’s degree or some college coursework in Human Resources, Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
(Base Pay Range: $22.00 - $27.00/hr)
