Senior Systems Engineer – SW Dev III
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise software applications and digital solutions supporting Transformation Strategy, Enablement, and Service Experience initiatives.
- Lead the development of scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions that align with business and technical requirements.
- Collaborate with business analysts, product owners, architects, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical designs and software functionality.
- Develop, enhance, and support web applications, APIs, backend services, integrations, and enterprise platforms.
- Participate in all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance.
- Design and implement system integrations between enterprise applications using DevSecOps, cloud services, databases, and third-party platforms.
- Develop reusable software components, frameworks, and automation solutions that improve program efficiency and service delivery.
- Lead technical analysis, code reviews, design reviews, and implementation planning activities.
- Support modernization efforts by refactoring legacy applications and migrating solutions to modern architectures and cloud environments.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes to improve software quality and delivery speed.
- Implement application monitoring, logging, and performance optimization techniques to ensure system reliability and availability.
- Collaborate with DevSecOps and cybersecurity teams to integrate secure coding practices and security controls throughout the development lifecycle.
- Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and automated testing solutions to ensure software quality and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex application, integration, and system issues through root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including system designs, architecture diagrams, interface specifications, and operational procedures.
- Support Agile development activities, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, and retrospectives.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior developers and engineering staff.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, frameworks, and development tools and recommend solutions that enhance system capabilities and user experience.
- Support deployment, release management, and post-implementation activities to ensure successful production operations.
- Ensure software solutions comply with organizational standards, accessibility requirements, security policies, and industry best practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on software engineering excellence, automation, and digital transformation.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of six (6) years of software development experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise applications and systems.
- Experience developing software solutions using modern programming languages, frameworks, and development methodologies.
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs, web services, system integrations, and enterprise applications.
- Strong knowledge of object-oriented design, software architecture, and application development best practices.
- Experience working within Agile, Scrum, DevSecOps, or hybrid software development environments.
- Experience with source code management tools such as Git, GitHub, GitLab, or Azure DevOps.
- Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern software delivery practices.
- Familiarity with cloud-based application development and deployment environments.
- Experience troubleshooting, debugging, and optimizing complex enterprise applications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders, and program leadership.
- U.S. Citizen and ability to get the clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Federal Government software development programs, including supporting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and/or Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) programs.
- Experience developing solutions in Microsoft Azure, AWS, or hybrid cloud environments.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automation frameworks.
- Experience with ServiceNow, Power Platform, SharePoint, Salesforce, or similar enterprise platforms.
- Experience supporting digital transformation, customer experience, and enterprise modernization initiatives.
- Knowledge of secure software development practices, application security testing, and cybersecurity requirements.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate, AWS Developer Associate, Certified Scrum Developer (CSD), Security+, or equivalent.
