WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):

The Candidate may reside in either Las Cruces, NM or Albuquerque,NM

As a Engagement Specialist, you will support the development and implementation of volunteer engagement strategies and programs that enhance volunteer satisfaction and retention. Assist with volunteer screening, referrals, and placement of prospective volunteers to ensure a sufficient number of volunteers meet operational needs within each Line of Service. Provide support, development, and/or leadership guidance to internal stakeholders, serving as a resource for volunteer engagement best practices and organizational tools and resources. Success requires strong relationship-building, self-motivation, collaborative mindset, communication, organizational, and program implementation skills, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

1: Serve as a liaison to internal and external partners to ensure all volunteer requests are timely and complete.

2: May serve as a facilitator for volunteer training. Provide guidance on volunteer programs, tools, and resources. Provide support and direction to volunteer on boarders, trainers, and supervisors.

  • Contribute input and serve as a resource for volunteer engagement best practices. Review volunteer satisfaction data and work with operational teams to develop engagement and retention strategies to improve volunteer satisfaction. Participate in the implementation, execution and monitoring of the volunteer engagement and retention strategy by interacting directly with volunteers.

4: Facilitate formal and informal recognition efforts and events to promote community and honor the volunteer experience and contributions.

5: Participate in the development of a thorough volunteer needs assessment for assigned area. Meet with stakeholders and ensure alignment of established goals to volunteer needs.

6: Assist in identifying and managing community partnerships

Scope: Works under limited supervision. Works closely to the senior engagement specialist and recruitment team. Applies subject matter knowledge; requires capacity to understand specific needs or requirements to apply skills/knowledge.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of related experience.
  • Management Experience: N/A Skills & Abilities: Ability to work on a team.
  • Event planning.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, the ability to create systems and processes, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple and continuously evolving priorities effectively.
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of group dynamics, customer service skills, database management, and the ability to effectively implement programs is preferred.
  • Knowledge of volunteer programs and policies preferred.
  • Travel: Ability to travel to field offices and events within the community and AZ/NM region
  • Combination of candidate’s education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description’s minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones and printers, light traffic). The employee must have the ability to work in a small cubicle and have the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.
