The Global Artisan Innovation Center (GAIC) produces both pre-production and low-volume production powertrains and vehicles. Pre-production builds support Product Engineering validation and Manufacturing process development, while low-volume production vehicles and powertrains are delivered directly to customers.
The Quality Engineer supports build activities, identifies and evaluates issues for preliminary root cause, and helps drive timely resolution. This role works across Design, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, and Operations to support delivery of high-quality products.
What You’ll Do
- Provide technical guidance and support to technicians
- Identify, track, and help resolve issues to support quality and timing objectives
- Serve as a liaison between GAIC, Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Supplier Quality during build phases
- Lead easel board reviews and participate in Issue Resolution Team meetings
- Support supplier quality containment activities, including SPPS requests and cost recovery documentation
- Maintain process control plans and internal audit documentation
- Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, math data, and engineering documentation
- Review CMM, FARO, scan reports, and other dimensional data related to engineering design and supplier components
- Develop clear action plans and support continuous improvement efforts
- Work within the Global Manufacturing System (GMS) and Business Plan Deployment (BPD) framework
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience
- Ability to learn and work within GM systems, including EMS, PRTS, ABAT, Teamcenter, GDIS, and Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with union-represented employees
- Hands-on experience with Teamcenter, ABAT, ECM, and PRTS
- Working knowledge of GM’s GMS principles
- Experience with ISO 9001 compliance and audits
- Strong project management, organizational, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
