Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute is searching for a Project Scientist/Engineer to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment.
We are seeking creative and energetic Project Scientist/Engineer that is responsible for determining priorities for project area based on overall organizational goals. The incumbent will direct the work of project members to ensure goals are achieved. Frequently presents research findings to current or potential sponsors and at major national or international conferences.
Responsibilities
- Acts as team leader, providing project management direction.
- Contributor in developing and documenting research findings and collaborator in writing scientific papers.
- Develop and maintain pipelines for processing large-scale 3D human datasets, including human mesh reconstruction, mesh cleanup, optimization, and conversion between parametric body models such as HMR and SMPL.
- Lead research efforts within main goals of project, and help coordinate interactions with other team members and universities.
- Process, synchronize, and validate motion capture datasets involving both human meshes and 3D objects, while developing tools for data calibration, quality assurance, and annotation.
- Propose and lead independent research goals within scope of projects.
- Support research in 3D human modeling by implementing and optimizing algorithms for human mesh recovery, pose estimation, and parametric human body representations to enable downstream computer vision, robotics, and generative AI research.
- Writing documentation, technical papers, progress reports and participating in meetings/committees.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Bachelor's Degree
- Strong Analytical Skills
- Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills
- Excellent Project Management Skills
- 5-8 Years of Research Experience
