# Position Summary
We are seeking a Manufacturing Cost Accountant to join our growing team in Columbia, South Carolina.
This is first and foremost a manufacturing cost accounting position. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with manufacturing cost accounting, including standard costing, product costing, inventory valuation, manufacturing cost variances, and financial analysis in a manufacturing environment.
As a growing company, this role also includes general accounting responsibilities such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger maintenance, and month-end close. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a hands-on environment while partnering with leadership to improve profitability, support pricing decisions, and provide meaningful financial insight to the business.
Working closely with executive leadership, production, purchasing, and operations, this individual will play a key role in helping alimex understand manufacturing costs, improve profitability, and support strategic business decisions.
This is primarily an on-site position due to the close interaction with our manufacturing operations. Occasional remote work flexibility is available when business needs allow.
# Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Cost Accounting (Primary Responsibility)
- Own and continuously improve the company's manufacturing cost accounting processes.
- Maintain accurate standard costs, product costs, Bills of Material (BOMs), routings, and inventory valuation within the ERP system.
- Analyze material, labor, overhead, and manufacturing cost variances and provide recommendations to improve profitability.
- Support month-end manufacturing close, including inventory, Work-in-Process (WIP), and finished goods reconciliations.
- Analyze manufacturing costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction and operational improvements.
- Provide cost-based pricing recommendations and profitability analysis to support strategic business decisions.
- Partner closely with production, purchasing, engineering, and operations to improve manufacturing performance and cost efficiency.
- Prepare and present financial analyses and management reports for executive leadership and corporate headquarters.
Accounting & Finance
- Perform general bookkeeping and maintain the General Ledger.
- Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close.
- Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support cash flow management.
- Coordinate with external accounting firms, auditors, and tax advisors.
Business Support
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Support financial planning and business decision-making through analysis and reporting.
- Maintain a general understanding of available tax incentives, R&D tax credits, and manufacturing incentive programs while coordinating with external advisors.
- Work collaboratively with departments across the organization to improve financial and operational performance.

# Qualifications & Experience
Required
- 3–5 years of accounting experience, including hands-on manufacturing cost accounting experience.

- Manufacturing Cost Variance Analysis
- Experience supporting pricing decisions and profitability analysis.

- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
