Hours: Part-Time Position – 35 Hours Work Location: 30-30 Thomson Avenue, LIC, NY 11101
College Aides are permitted to work up to 17 hours per week during the school year, and full time (35 hours) during the summer. Please note you must be a student enrolled in an accredited college or graduate school to be eligible for the position.
The College Aide will directly support Public Buildings capital projects through planning, design, and construction. You will work alongside project teams to streamline workflows, track regulatory milestones, and help ensure critical New York City projects stay on schedule, and support timely regulatory approvals for Public Bu8ilding’s capital program.
The position will provide valuable exposure to public-sector project delivery, construction management, and regulatory processes while helping the unit advance operational improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with tracking permit applications, approvals, and regulatory milestones across active projects.
- Supporting data collection, analysis, and reporting related to permitting performance, approval timelines, and project delivery metrics.
- Assisting with the development and maintenance of knowledge management resources, including process documentation, training materials, and reference guides for project teams.
- Supporting research of agency requirements, code updates, and permitting procedures to improve consistency and efficiency across project portfolios.
- Assisting with quality control reviews of permitting records and project documentation to help ensure accurate and complete submissions.

For Assignment Level I: Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school. For Assignment Level II (Information Technology): Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. For Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow): Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. Appointments to this Assignment Level will be made by the Technology Steering Committee through the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications.
SPECIAL NOTE Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than half-time in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods.
