The opportunity

Join Hitachi Energy’s High Voltage Products Business Unit and help shape the future of electrical power systems. As part of the Technology Center North America, you will contribute to the development and optimization of metal-enclosed high voltage circuit breakers—critical components that ensure safe, reliable energy distribution across substations worldwide.

In this role, you’ll collaborate with a highly skilled, cross-functional team driving innovation in electro-mechanical systems. You’ll work on advanced R&D initiatives, tackle real-world engineering challenges, and support the delivery of leading-edge solutions that enable a more sustainable and resilient grid. This is an opportunity to expand your technical expertise, influence product development, and make a meaningful contribution to the energy transition. Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.

How you'll make an impact

  • Contribute to international R&D projects as a technical specialist or work-package lead
  • Develop and enhance products using innovative engineering techniques
  • Support business operations with timely and effective technical solutions
  • Perform and support mechanical and electrical testing activities
  • Create, review, and improve technical reports and documentation
  • Assist in supplier qualification and maintain technical standards
  • Identify intellectual property risks and support patent-related activities
  • Mentor early-career engineers and encourage innovation

Your background

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in the electro-mechanical industry; high voltage experience preferred
  • Proficiency with CAD and 3D modeling tools (e.g., PTC Creo or similar)
  • Strong communication, presentation, and documentation skills
  • Ability to collaborate across global, cross-functional teams
  • Proactive mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities
