Southern Truck Equipment Inc is looking for an experienced and driven Shop Manager to lead our team in Almont, MI. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll oversee daily shop operations, keep projects moving, and ensure top-quality work is delivered every time. Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day shop operations, workflow, and production scheduling
- Supervise, mentor, and manage shop technicians and support staff
- Ensure quality control standards are met on all truck equipment installations and repairs
- Coordinate with sales and customer service teams to meet project deadlines and customer expectations
- Manage parts inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships
- Enforce safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized shop environment
- Troubleshoot technical issues and provide hands-on guidance to technicians as needed
Requirements
- Proven experience in a shop management or lead technician role, preferably in truck equipment or automotive
- Strong knowledge of truck upfitting, fabrication, or heavy equipment installation
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, schematics, and technical documents
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
- Valid driver's license required; CDL or relevant certifications a plus
