This position reports to:

Engineering Manager

In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as a design authority for an engineering discipline with low to medium complexity. This role bridges technical expertise with commercial awareness, delivering automation solutions and technical support for low to medium complexity projects across the entire project lifecycle. The Project Engineer conducts technical discovery, develops value propositions, qualifies opportunities, manages customer relationships, and ensures solution quality in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and cybersecurity policies.

Your role and responsibilities:

  • Develops and documents control application designs; programs automation applications using advanced techniques.
  • Establishes trust and confidence with customers, acting as the primary technical contact; explains complex issues and develops relevant customer presentations.
  • Travels to customer locations to resolve technical problems; defines the need for and performs service calls on direct and other engineers' projects as needed.
  • Routinely develops and upgrades technical skills; self-trains in new products and technologies, including proficiency with additional concepts such as sizing.

Qualifications for the role:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field and 2+ years of Engineering experience OR equivalent years of experience
  • Proficiency in IEC 61131 Programming Languages (Ladder Diagram, Structured Text) and Customer Management Relationship is required
  • Knowledge of Motion Control Systems, PLC/HMI Programming and Application Development (C or equivalent high-level language) is required
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time; Valid Passport with no barriers is required
  • Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $68,600 and $109,760 annually.
