Full job description
The Electrician – Section Lead is responsible for leading and supervising a team of electricians in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems across Al Udeid Air Base. This role combines hands-on technical work with leadership, safety oversight, and coordination to ensure all electrical operations support mission readiness and comply with applicable codes and base requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Lead, supervise, and mentor a section of electricians performing electrical maintenance and repair work
- Plan, assign, and oversee daily work activities to ensure timely and efficient completion of tasks
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair low- and medium-voltage electrical systems, including:
- Ensure all work complies with NEC, NFPA, OSHA, host nation regulations, and base-specific standards
- Perform and review preventive maintenance inspections and corrective maintenance actions
- Read, interpret, and update electrical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals
- Coordinate work with other trades, supervisors, and base representatives
- Enforce safety procedures, conduct job safety analyses, and promote a strong safety culture
- Maintain accurate records, work orders, material usage, and maintenance reports
- Assist with troubleshooting complex electrical issues and emergency response as required
- Support inspections, audits, and quality control reviews
- Ensure proper use, care, and accountability of tools, equipment, and materials
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Five (5) years of experience related to the maintenance, repair, and testing of electrical systems.
- Master or Journeymen License required
- Master or Journeymen level license for an Electrician.
- Must be able to read and interpret building diagrams and technical manuals.
- Must have experience with and knowledge of NEC and NFPA-40
- Familiarity with the British Electrical Code (BEC), desirable
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Strong working knowledge of NEC, electrical safety practices, and power distribution systems
- Proven ability to lead teams in an industrial, commercial, or military base environment
- Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints and technical documentation
- Physically able to work in hot, outdoor environments and confined spaces
- Prior experience working on U.S. military installations or overseas locations
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License
- Possess a valid U.S. Passport (preferred)
- Must be able to meet all current USCENTCOM Deployment Policy Requirements, as outlined in the USCENTCOM APR 23 MOD EIGHTEEN TO USCENTCOM INDIVIDUAL AND INDIVIDUAL-UNIT DEPLOYMENT POLICY
- Able to obtain and maintain a valid Residency Visa for Qatar
- Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.
- Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
TRAVEL: 100%, in deployed location.
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Must have and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
