Buyer/Planner
The Buyer/Planner is responsible for managing the forecasting, inventory, and procurement of components and raw materials for our hollow metal doors & frames manufacturing facility in McKenzie, TN. As a Buyer/Planner, you will ensure inventory accuracy, maintain optimal stock levels, and collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to support seamless production operations in a fast-paced setting.
What You Will Do:
- Maintain healthy inventory levels of components and raw materials by managing forecasts, ordering data, and tracking OSMI/inventory turns.
- Ensure inventory accuracy of purchased items through counts, Bill of Materials (BOMs) management, and material substitutions.
- Manage purchase orders, maintain quotes, and expedite deliveries as necessary to meet critical production requirements.
- Reconcile SIMS accounts payable and collaborate with Quality Assurance to process material rejects and resolve issues.
- Track supplier performance regarding quality and delivery, and perform Purchase Price Variance (PPV) tracking and comparative quoting.
- Provide cross-functional support for Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and Engineering Changes (EC).
- Provide backup coverage for the MRO Buyer during absences.
What You Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field (Preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience (Required)
- 2+ years of purchasing, inventory management, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment (Required)
- Computer proficient with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office applications (Required)
- Experience with BOMs, inventory accuracy tracking, and accounts payable reconciliation (Required)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to track supplier performance, PPV, and comparative quoting (Required)
- Familiarity with VA/VE, PPAP, and Engineering Change (EC) processes (Preferred)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work cohesively in a team environment (Required)
- ASCM (CPIM) or equivalent certification (Preferred)
