Description
AlleraIT is seeking a Data Scientist / Data Analyst to support a federal client's compliance-review program. In this role, you will build, operate, and maintain a data-mining and analytics platform that ingests large volumes of monthly transaction data, applies business rules and risk-scoring logic to flag high-risk records for review, and delivers reporting dashboards that give program leadership real-time visibility into results. You will work closely with the Program Manager and the client's IT/security team to keep the platform compliant with federal certification and accreditation requirements.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain ETL pipelines ingesting transaction and operational data extracts from multiple source systems
- Design, implement, and periodically refresh business rules and statistical/risk-scoring logic in coordination with the client
- Support the federal Certification & Accreditation (C&A) process for the analytics tool, ensuring it operates within the client's approved security boundary
- Build and maintain reporting dashboards that feed recurring activity reports and review-status tracking for program leadership
- Reconcile and normalize data from source systems with inconsistent schemas or formats, flagging anomalies for analyst review
- Ensure all data processing and storage occurs within client-approved, client-hosted systems (no contractor-hosted data storage)
- Collaborate with compliance reviewers/auditors to translate program policy and audit criteria into automated business rules
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 4–6 years of experience building data pipelines, statistical/ML models, or business-rule engines against large operational or financial datasets
- Hands-on experience with tools such as Python, R, SQL, and data visualization/BI platforms (e.g., R-Shiny, Power BI, Tableau)
- Experience working with large, multi-source datasets, including data cleansing, harmonization, and quality validation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting findings to non-technical stakeholders and program leadership
- U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance (Level 5, Moderate Risk), including a Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) or Limited Background Investigation (LBI)
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting a federal government client or federal contractor
- Experience with cloud-based large-scale data processing (e.g., Apache Spark, Databricks)
- Familiarity with federal information security frameworks (FISMA, NIST SP 800-53) and system Certification & Accreditation (C&A) processes
- Experience building risk-scoring or predictive models that have undergone independent/formal validation or accreditation
- Relevant technical certifications (e.g., cloud platform, data engineering)
Work Location & Travel This position performs remotely. Occasional in-person meetings may be required at the client's Bethesda, MD facility; routine travel is not expected.
Security Requirements This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust suitability determination at Level 5 (Moderate Risk). Candidates must be able to pass a background investigation, including fingerprinting, prior to accessing client information systems.
