Position Summary:
The Athletic Training Coordinator provides leadership, vision, and supervision of a comprehensive injury care and athletic training service for a comprehensive Sport Clubs Program comprised of 30 nationally competitive teams averaging a total of 1,200 team members each academic year from August through May, annually; it is a 10-month position). The Coordinator is responsible for providing athletic training services to Sport Club team members, responding to injuries and emergency situations at practices and home competitions. The Coordinator assists the Sport Clubs Coordinator and Assistant Director with managing and directing Sport Clubs student staff on-site during practices and competition for event supervision, eligibility verification, facility operations, customer service, and emergency response.
The Coordinator works collaboratively with department colleagues to facilitate event operations and logistics within the Campus Recreation Department, Division of Student Affairs, and throughout the University to benefit students. The Coordinator is committed to promoting Campus Recreation values by creating a welcoming environment at University facilities and via Sport Club programming to a wide University population.
Frequent evening and weekend hours dependent on programmatic offerings, University calendar, area requirements, and department/university events are required.
Campus Recreation is an auxiliary unit in the Division of Student Affairs. Campus Recreation provides wellness and healthy lifestyle-oriented programs, events, and services to Colorado State University students and employees via seven program areas: Student Recreation Center, Aquatics, Fitness, Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs, Outdoor Programs, and Climbing Wall. Seven service work units, Service Center, Business Office, Information Technology, Communications/Marketing, Custodial Services, Equipment Management, and Maintenance support the program service functions to provide seamless customer service to CSU students, employees, and their families. Campus Recreation facilities, programs, and services promote a sense of community, support student development through leadership and employment opportunities, and encourage the pursuit of a healthy lifestyle to a diverse University population. Essential Job Duties:
- Provide comprehensive athletic training services for on-campus and ‘home’ practices and competitions, and for pre-scheduled injury care and rehabilitation appointments of program participants, ensuring comprehensive program documentation and HIPAA and FERPA compliance.
- Manage, deliver, and document the program’s baseline concussion testing protocol for the 12 teams that are mandated to participate.
- Oversee the daily operation of the Athletic Training Room and related Sport Club Program-specific auxiliary facilities including participant access, equipment checkout, risk management, cleaning, inspection, and maintenance.
- Responsible for area annual budget development, management, and expenditure decisions: $10,000.
- Oversee program and event operations by monitoring activities during frequent evening and weekend hours addressing operational issues, and ensuring compliance with program policies, procedures, and risk management standards.
- During practices and competitions, manage facilities and field operations by managing user scheduling conflicts, conducting inspections, and making determinations regarding playability, and safety conditions across assigned indoor and outdoor venues.
- Maintain current certifications in American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional Rescuer, Automatic External Defibrillator, and First Aid (American Red Cross Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers is an approved substitute).
- Other duties as assigned.
Conditions of Employment:

Supervision:
- The position assists in the supervision and training of up to 12 Sport Club Managers who work a combined 60 hours per week.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Current certification from National Athletic Training Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)
- Current CPR/AED certification consistent with NATABOC standards
- Current license as an athletic trainer with the State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) required prior to start date
- Experience with programming or service delivery for various community populations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a health-related field as required by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE)
- One year of certified athletic training work experience in recreation, education, athletic, therapeutic, or similar organization
- Inventory management experience
- Experience working in an institution of higher education recreation setting
- Budget development or budget management experience
- Experience with athletic training/injury tracking/concussion baseline software systems (e.g. Healthy Roster, Impact, etc.)

Salary Range
$52,000-$56,000 10-month position (August through May, annually)
