Country Lead, North America Payroll at External — Remote

This is a Remote position for candidates living in the U.S., preferably located in Eastern or Central time zones.
About this role
We are seeking a Country Lead, North America Payroll to oversee end-to-end payroll operations across Canada and support alignment with U.S. payroll processes. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant payroll delivery while serving as a trusted payroll subject matter expert and partnering across HR, Finance, IT, and external vendors.
What you’ll do
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for Canada and support North American payroll operations.
- Validate payroll inputs including compensation changes, benefits, deductions, time records, and employee status updates.
- Ensure payroll compliance with applicable regulations and company policies.
- Perform payroll reconciliations, reporting, accounting support, and audit activities.
- Partner with HR, Finance, IT, and payroll vendors to deliver payroll excellence.
- Resolve payroll issues, inquiries, and escalations.
- Drive process improvements, system enhancements, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

You are a detail-oriented payroll professional with strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, exceptional analytical capabilities, and a passion for delivering a best-in-class employee experience.
Required skills
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
- 5 years of progressive payroll experience.
- Minimum 3 years supporting Canadian payroll in a multi-provincial environment.
- Advanced Excel proficiency.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Deep understanding of payroll controls, compliance, taxation, and audits.
Preferred skills
- Experience supporting U.S. payroll operations.
- Experience working with third-party payroll providers.
- Canadian Payroll Association Certification, PCP designation, Certified Payroll Manager (CPM), or any related certification is considered an asset.
- French language proficiency.
The base compensation range for this role is: $81,000.00-$105,000.00 Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
