Job Description
Wilsonart in Temple, Texas has an opening in Assembly for a Layup
The Temple Assembly department currently has an opening for a Layup, grade 1. The Lay-up will assist with the lay-up process under direction of the Layup 2 or 3 team member. Performs designated tasks at the lay-up table assigned by the department Team Lead. This position is for nights, N2.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Obtains lay-up material for the run from the pattern pullers, super cutter or sheeting.
- Helps with cutting down larger size paper at the cut down table as needed.
- Vacuums or brushes off the table before the material is assembled.
- Lays up the material according to the assigned lay-up schedule under direction of a Layup 2 or Layup 3 team member.
- Monitors for defects in the paper or overlay and verifies length and width of all material laid-up.
- Submits request forms for material at the direction of the Layup 2 or 3.
- Vacuums and covers the completed run.
- Participates in the Lean and Safety process.
- Read schedules to help verify material is ready for assembly
- Utilize puller screens and pattern Identification screens to look up material and verify runs
- Performs other tasks as assigned Count the proper amount of core material needed for production.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of safety standards applicable to the work area and other pertinent rules/regulations governing work standards.
- Knowledge of the material quality standards.
- Knowledge of computer sufficient to enter data into the system.
- Ability to identify patterns and finishes.
- Ability to operate a lift truck and lowboy.
- Skill in hand-and-eye coordination.
- Ability to operate cut down table.
- Lay up material at an adequate pace to match the Layup 2 or 3 performance. (85 – 100 Sheets per hour)
- Ability to use a tape measure.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: High Scholl Diploma or equivalent or one year work experience
EXPERIENCE: 1 year of work experience
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Medium work- Tasks involve pushing/pulling, lifting and standing or using force equal to handling materials of 50 to 100 pounds.
ENVIRONMENT: Located in an environment with regular exposure to fumes or odors, temperature extremes, or loud noises which cause noticeable discomfort or moderate risk of accident or illness.
