What You Will Contribute:
The Proposal Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate information in relation to products, services, and pricing. This role ensures the appropriate items are entered in the response and required documents are gathered. You will work directly with members of the proposal, legal, marketing and sales team to develop high-quality, accurate responses for Request-for-Proposals (RFPs). This position is critical to ensuring Badger Meter presents high quality responses that allow us to win new business and supports the maintenance of established contracts.
Job Duties:
- Review, analyze and understand each request for proposal (RFP) assigned to and partner with the Lead and Writer to ensure effective kick-off of each response.
- Participate in sales meetings and communications to understand and assess the correct product and service needs for the specific response.
- Oversee and manage all material gathering and response submissions for each RFP including pricing. On larger RFPs partner with Proposal Lead and Writer to complete questionnaires.
- Take responsibility for final submission of proposals to customers, basic build out in response software in smaller RFP responses, extensions of previous won RFPs, and connecting with subject-matter experts on areas of uncertainty when answering the RFP.
- Assist other Specialists through the review of response questions and use the knowledge of co-workers to ensure the highest quality responses are drafted and submitted.
- Use a continuous improvement mindset to find ways to streamline the team’s ability to easily gather data/ Work with the Writer and Associate Writer to ensure this feedback is shared and updated to support future projects.
- Answer requests for questionnaires and for information depending on size and availability.
- Demonstrate clear knowledge of product functionality and value proposition.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Engineering, Education, or related field preferred
- 3+ years of experience in Marketing, Communication, Engineering, Sales, Grant Writing, Education or Business desired
Qualifications
- APMP Certification preferred
- Advanced ability to translate RFP materials and manage a list of requirements required
- Advanced proficiency with Adobe Pro and Qvidian or a similar software required
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook required
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines at once required
