Sr. Software Engineer, Fintech - Accounting Integrations (LATAM) at Engine — Remote
Full job description
### About Engine
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the FinTech vertical. The Accounting integrations team is responsible for the last touchpoint in the Engine user journey. Every line of credit, every booking, every direct bill needs to land cleanly in our customers' ERP systems. Right now that gap costs us deals. You'll close it. From day one, help design the integrations layer, and own it as the team scales. QuickBooks is already live. Netsuite is in progress. Sage, Xero, Oracle Fusion, and eventually expense platforms like Expensify and Concur are next.
This is a team where 95% of code is AI-generated, PR reviews are being phased out, and the FinTech group leads the entire company in AI development. If you want high ownership, real external-facing technical work, and a team that takes AI seriously — this is it.
# What You'll Do
- Design and build integrations between Engine's billing system and major ERP platforms — QuickBooks, Netsuite, Sage, Xero, Oracle Fusion
- Work directly with external vendors: navigate their APIs, attend architectural onboarding sessions, and get your integration designs approved
- Own the full integration lifecycle — from vendor demos through to production and ongoing support
- Lay the architecture for future expense management integrations (Expensify, Concur, and others)
- Collaborate with the billing team and internal accounting stakeholders to ensure the line-of-credit-to-ERP flow is accurate and reliable
- Use AI tools (Claude and/or Cursor) as your primary development environment — this team generates ~95% of code with AI
### What You'll Do
- Drive the design and implementation of a greenfield services, replacing legacy code with modern microservices, strong test coverage, and production-grade observability
- Enable other product teams by building and maintaining integrations they depend on
- Collaborate closely with other teams to translate accounting requirements into engineering solutions
- Use AI tools (Claude and/or Cursor) as your primary development environment
### What We're Looking For
Required:
- Strong system design skills — you can walk through architectural decisions you've made, explain tradeoffs, and think at the infrastructure level
- Excellent communication — you can explain technical problems clearly to non-technical stakeholders like accountants and business ops teams
- AI fluency — you're comfortable using Claude, Cursor, or similar tools as your main coding interface; you don't just use them occasionally
- Proven delivery — you've shipped complex systems, not just features; you can speak to the weight and scope of what you've built
- Java or Kotlin experience (preferred by the team)
Nice to Have:
- Experience in FinTech, payments, fraud, or billing systems — adjacent domains like fraud prevention or payment logistics count
- Experience building ERP or accounting integrations (QuickBooks, Netsuite, Sage, Xero, Oracle Fusion, or similar)
- Terraform, Datadog, or Splunk experience
This is a contractor role for candidates based in Latin America. Applications for this role will be accepted through September 30th until the role is filled. We encourage you to apply early, as we may begin reviewing applications before the deadline.
- Compensation: Competitive base pay tied to role and experience, with opportunities for bonuses, commissions, and equity.
