Title: Inventory Manager (IM), Mid-Senior

Details:

  • Status: Full-Time
  • Schedule: 0800hrs – 1630hrs; M-F
  • Location: On-Site, Aberdeen, MD 21001

Key Roles/Duties:

  • Lead and implement inventory management, supply chain, and customer demand strategies aligning with the Company's goals
  • Optimize logistics, procurement, and inventory management to improve efficiency, reduce costs and maintain proper stock levels to avoid shortages or excess inventory to include
  • Identify, select, and maintain relationships with suppliers and negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms
  • Manage the acquisition and storage of raw materials, parts, or finished goods to ensure on-time delivery and cost-effective procurement
  • Manage transportation, warehousing, and distribution of goods
  • Participate in and help develop demand forecasting and planning activities to proactively prevent overstock or stockout conditions
  • Analyze supply chain performance data to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Analyze supplier performance to ensure compliance with all applicable quality and customer standards
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on critical inventory activities using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The Inventory Manager shall be responsible for achieving and maintaining performance metrics including but not limited to:
  • Orders Team Members’ Task Completion Rate (TCR) - percentage of how often direct reports complete their tasks on time
  • Stockout Rate (SOR) - percentage of business days that production and/or customer supply is delayed due to material shortage
  • On-Time Delivery (OTD) - percentage of outbound deliveries that are shipped on-time
  • Supplier Delivery Accuracy Rate (SDA) - percentage of inbound deliveries that are on-time and product is in compliance with all applicable requirements and standards
  • Inventory Accuracy Rate (IAR) - percentage of physical inventory counts that are accurate to company records and/or our ERP/MRP system
  • The Inventory Manager shall monitor performance, implement corrective actions, and provide regular reporting to leadership to ensure these metrics are achieved and sustained throughout each product launch
  • Develop contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies
  • Ensure supply chain practices meet environmental and ethical standards while also complying with regulations related to trade, safety, and labor
  • Ensure bonded inventory programs that reduce lead time and improve inventory turns
  • Lead cost reduction initiatives with suppliers and secured customer approvals for savings
  • Assist in quoting for new projects, including pricing strategy, vendor collaboration and material configuration coordination with cleared venders
  • Ensure inventory, supply chain, and customer demand activities and transactions are accurate and fully aligned with the company’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and MRP systems.
  • Perform supervisory responsibilities, including task prioritization, performance oversight, process enforcement, and employee development for assigned personnel

  • Shipping & Receiving Responsibilities
  • In addition to the above, the Inventory Manager will supervise and manage the shipping and receiving operations, including:
  • Manage and oversee the intake of incoming materials and outbound shipments to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation
  • Coordinate cross functionally with Manufacturing and Program teams to prioritize, schedule and execute shipments
  • Accountable for team compliance in all packing, labeling, and shipping activities to ensure adherence to customer and regulatory requirements (e.g., military, international, hazmat)
  • Lead resolution of shipping discrepancies, serving as primary point of contact with carriers, vendors, and internal teams
  • Provide oversight and hands-on support as required to ensure operational continuity and schedule adherence
  • Direct and supports material movement using material handling equipment as needed
  • Ensure inventory accuracy through supervisory review of receiving documentation and ERP/MRP system transactions (and/or other required tracking methods)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience
  • Three (3)+ years of demonstrated experience in an equivalent or similar role
  • Demonstrated experience using an ERP/MRP system
  • Demonstrated experience with ISO 9001:2015 or other industry-specify quality systems
  • Maintain highly organized and detailed records
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment (i.e. forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.)
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
