JOB DETAILS

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Revised Duties & Responsibilities

Electrical & Controls

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair industrial electrical systems up to 480V three-phase.
  • Troubleshoot electrical failures involving motors, drives, control panels, contactors, relays, heaters, sensors, and instrumentation.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical components and wiring associated with extrusion and downstream equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and assist with repairs of PLC-controlled equipment, HMIs, VFDs, and automated manufacturing systems.
  • Perform electrical testing using multimeters, clamp meters, megohmmeters, and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Safely perform energized and de-energized troubleshooting in accordance with company safety procedures and NFPA 70E requirements.

Mechanical Maintenance

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and emergency maintenance on extrusion equipment and supporting systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and process-related equipment.
  • Maintain extruders, feeders, conveyors, cooling systems, pullers, cutters, pumps, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Replace bearings, motors, gearboxes, belts, chains, couplings, and other mechanical components.
  • Perform basic welding, cutting, brazing, soldering, and fabrication repairs as required.

Safety & Continuous Improvement

  • Follow all safety procedures including Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures, confined space entry, fall protection, electrical safe work practices, and PPE requirements.
  • Participate in TPM and continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Assist in root cause analysis of equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders in the CMMS system.
  • Support development and updates of maintenance procedures and standard work instructions.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Material Handling & Equipment Support

  • Safely operate lifting and rigging equipment including chain hoists, slings, jacks, come-alongs, cranes, and lift devices.
  • Inspect lifting equipment and assist with equipment installation, relocation, and major repairs.
  • Assist with maintenance inventory management and notify supervision when replacement parts or supplies are required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing 480V three-phase electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
  • Experience troubleshooting motors, motor controls, contactors, relays, overloads, sensors, heaters, and control circuits.
  • Experience using electrical testing equipment, including multimeters, clamp meters, megohmmeters, and non-contact voltage testers.
  • Basic PLC troubleshooting experience preferred (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms).
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Welding, fabrication, and basic machine shop experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize multiple maintenance activities.
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with CMMS systems preferred.
  • Strong communication, troubleshooting, and time-management skills.
  • Completion of or ability to obtain required safety certifications and training.
