General Summary
The Construction Laborer supports asphalt paving and related construction activities across Dickerson & Bowen project sites. This role performs a wide range of essential tasks, including site preparation, grading, paving support, and assisting with the installation or repair of various structures. Responsibilities also include traffic control/flagging, shoveling, maintaining clean and safe work areas, and setting up or completing stringline layouts. Laborers work closely with equipment operators and crew members to ensure efficient, high‐quality project execution in all field conditions.
Essential Job Accountabilities
- Digs, spreads, and levels dirt and gravel, using pick and shovel.
- Lifts, carries, and holds materials, tools, and supplies.
- Cleans tools, equipment, materials, and work areas.
- Mixes, pours, and spreads concrete, asphalt, gravel, and other materials, using handtools.
- Joins, wraps, and seals sections of pipe.
- Performs a variety of routine, non-machine tasks, such as removing forms from set concrete, filling expansion joints with asphalt, and placing culvert sections in trench.
Education
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience
Work Experience
- On the job training required.
Requirements and Certifications
- Valid Driver’s License
- (Preferred) Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class B with Tanker endorsement)

- Stand or walk for long periods
- Use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects
- Lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds
- Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects and carry tools and equipment
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl, and see (naturally or with correction).
