Assembly Technician II
Full job description
As an Assembly Technician II, you will be using your assembly knowledge to build products containing electronics to a defined set of procedures/instructions. You'll be responsible to complete prescribed repetitive tasks in conjunction with a team that will culminate into a finished product on an assembly line.
The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber.
Responsibilities
- Assemble complex components and subassemblies according to detailed instructions and blueprints.
- Perform quality inspections and tests on assembled products.
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic assembly issues.
- Maintain and calibrate assembly tools and equipment.
- Document and report production activities and any discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist in training and mentoring junior assembly technicians.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to improve assembly processes.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
Must-haves:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 1+ years' experience as an assembly technician or in a related field.
- A higher level degree may substitute for experience.
- A good understanding of manufacturing, production or warehouse environments.
- Ability to comprehend/follow detailed instructions.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience in the aerospace and defense industry.
- Certification in intermediate soldering or electronics assembly.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
Essential Functions:
- Perform assembly tasks, including the ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly.
- Operate and maintain assembly tools and equipment, requiring hand/finger dexterity.
- Stand for extended periods during the work shift.
- Work in potentially hazardous or loud environments, following safety protocols.
- Ability to travel may be required.
- For office roles, capability to work in an office or hybrid environment

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance eligibility process for industry applicants. Adjudicative factors which affect the outcome of the eligibility determination include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the U.S., foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and illegal drug use.
