The Gas Cylinder Operator I will contribute to the cylinder requalification and repair process and—with proper technique and/or with the aid of material handling equipment—move industrial gas cylinders to different areas of the plant and load/unload cylinders from delivery trucks.

  • Perform cylinder cleaning, painting, and general maintenance regularly to ensure quality.
  • Organize and prioritize cylinders for efficient retesting and handling.
  • Responsibly guide forklift, hand-truck, pallet-jack, chain hoist, etc. to load/unload compressed and liquid industrial gas cylinders to and from delivery trucks to testing and storage areas.
  • May load cylinders onto vehicles with proper technique or with the aid of material handling equipment.
  • Transfer plant cylinders to different areas within the facility using a forklift.
  • Keep the team informed if truck loading duties cannot be accomplished for any reason to ensure smooth operations.
  • Replace pallet straps as necessary to maintain safety standards.
  • Ensure documentation is accurate and completed as needed.
  • Help identify any equipment or facility improvements or defects to the supervisor.
  • Ensure any accident or injury is promptly reported to foster a safe work environment for everyone.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in a drug free workplace.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is preferred
  • Minimum of one (1) year related experience and/or training preferred
  • Must be customer service oriented and able to interact with fellow Associates in a  professional manner
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and be detailed-oriented with good  organizational skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance  instructions, MSDS, and procedure manuals
  • Possess basic mathematic and written skills.

The hourly base pay range for this position in California is $20.00/hr. - $24.00/hr. Please note that the hourly base pay information is a general guideline only. Airgas considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
