About the Role
Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Director of Finance, the Physician Compensation Manager will serve as a leader within the provider compensation work stream to administer and develop provider compensation programs for Northeast Georgia Physician Group and Georgia Heart Institute employed providers. This person will assist in the planning, development, and implementation of specific pay practices to ensure legal compliance with System policies and government regulation. Duties will include, but not be limited to provider compensation budget creation and management, provider compensation reporting, financial analysis, and forecasts as well as the presentation of such reports to executive management, Board of Directors (BOD) and/or BOD committees, physicians, and other stakeholders.
Minimum Job Qualifications
- Licensure or other certifications:
- Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance; or a degree from an accredited undergraduate college with education and experience in physician practice financial management; or equivalent combination of other education and experience to demonstrate a broad based knowledge of healthcare operations and finance.
- Minimum Experience: Minimum 3-5 years progressive work experience in financial analysis, accounting and/or auditing. Experience in developing analytical models, testing assumptions and strategies.

- Preferred Experience: Background in healthcare preferred. Experience with provider employment agreements / compensation agreements preferred.

- Strong analytical background and comfort working with financial, operational, and quality data.
- Must be proficient in the use of spreadsheet, presentation graphics, and data base software with the ability to integrate elements as needed.
- Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Can present to individual Physicians/Executive Leaders or large groups and manage own presentations.
- Must possess a great deal of independent judgment as it applies to discretion and decision making.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
- Collect and maintain provider compensation information in a complex data base to be used in high level calculations used to formulate provider compensation.
- Responsible to prepare and maintain monthly provider compensation summary and detail charge reports.
- Works collaboratively with provider compensation work stream to ensure providers are paid in a timely and accurate manner.
- Identify issues related to provider compensation programs and recommends effective and timely solutions.
- Assist providers in understanding their practice and individual compensation results.
- Assist with Fair Market Value analyses.
- Prepares provider compensation budgets and associated financial projections.
- Work collaboratively with Legal, Human Resources, Corporate Compliance, Provider Recruitment, and other stakeholders in Physician contract development, the creation and deployment of provider contract renewals, and practice acquisition due diligence.
- Support the provider compensation work stream through survey participation & analysis, assembling compensation packages, conducting analyses requested and/or required by Executive Leadership, Board of Directors, Medical Directors, individual providers or Legal Counsel.
- Develops a competent and efficient staff by supervising Provider Compensation Analysts and Financial Analyst, assigning and monitoring their tasks, mentoring and developing, and driving accountability via ongoing feedback as well as in annual performance evaluations.
- Assist with special projects as deemed necessary in the Financial Operations Division.
