Primary Function
Directs security and law enforcement functions to maintain order, safety, and legal compliance within a high-security facility with diverse and high-risk populations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and enforce security policies, post orders, and incident response protocols.
- Oversee investigations, evidence handling, and coordination with external agencies.
- Manage staffing, training, firearms/less-lethal programs, and use-of-force reviews.
- Analyze security intelligence, trends, and vulnerabilities; implement corrective actions.
- Lead emergency management (NIMS/ICS) integration and critical incident command.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with federal privacy standards.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of law enforcement or corrections experience with senior leadership responsibility.
- Peace Officer Standards Training (POST) certification or equivalent; firearms qualifications as applicable.
- Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized, and have excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain necessary clearances and credentials required for access to detention facilities.
- Ability to obtain and maintain favorable background investigations.
- Meet the requirements of the contract for all immunizations.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, resided in the U.S. for 3 years in the past 5 years.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must complete all required training.
- Ability to adapt to sudden changes and flexibility in work requirements to include potential shift changes based on operational needs and/or command priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- FBI-LEEDA trilogy, IACP leadership training, or similar advanced programs.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, or fluency in other languages
- Has undergone a federal investigation at the level of Tier 2 or higher; has been granted favorable suitability/eligibility and has not had a break in service for more than 24 months.
- Detention center experience.
- Work is performed in a secure detention facility.
- May require evening, weekend, or on-call hours.
- Exposure to emotionally challenging situations.
- Requires physical presence and mobility throughout the facility.
- Participate in drills and emergency responses as assigned.
