Job Details:
Mercer Engineering Research Center (MERC), a research institute of Mercer University, provides high quality engineering, scientific, and technical support services to both government and private industry customers. We are currently recruiting for a Network Systems Administrator to support the Network Systems Directorate. The successful incumbent performs server technical support functions for organizational and program management activities under the supervision of the Manager, Network Systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Resolves problems regarding windows and Linux server operating systems, application software, and hardware operation.
- Manage prescribed server disaster recovery schemes, system capacity planning, and user data management.
- Sets up servers and ensures proper installation and configuration of hardware, tape libraries, disk arrays, and operating systems.
- Maintain updated server and network infrastructure software, bios and firmware.
- Manages server and PC system patch update schedules and corrective action.
- Maintains and performs problem resolution of Windows Active Directory structure.
- Configuration of Active Directory Group Policy.
- Assists with the implementation of NIST 800-171/CMMC security baseline related to PCs, servers, networks, routers, GCC High, and firewalls.
- Apply security baselines using tools such as Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) or CIS, scans and maintains records of findings, corrective actions taken, and reporting.
- Develops documentation, processes and procedures related to NIST 800-171/CMMC compliance as related to oversight area(s).
- Maintain up to date network drawings and assist in the maintenance of a five-year life cycle plan.
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of servers and network systems assets.
- Coordinates major hardware or software resolution with vendors.
- Assists in the management and configuration of network switches.
- Research new network technology architectures and plans; executes new deployments and infrastructure upgrades.
- Work within the team to assistance in the configuration and management of network firewalls, routers, firepower threat prevention, URL filtering, and VPN configurations.
- Assist the team in the configuration of cloud environments.
- Develop process improvements to meet business needs and CMMC controls.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for network operations
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- US Citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
- An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Information Technology from an accredited institution and 2 years’ directly related experience; or an associate degree with 4 years of directly related experience; or a high school diploma with 6 years of directly related experience.
- Experience with NIST 800-171, and continuous monitoring is required.
- Demonstrated technical experience with windows server computer hardware, operating systems and application software, including Windows Server Operating Systems, Microsoft Applications, Microsoft Cloud, CAD Application Suites, and server configurations.
- Ability to install, repair, and troubleshoot server hardware, software, peripheral devices, disk arrays, and tape libraries.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Experience performing systems disaster recovery.
- Service oriented and able to communicate and interface with users, peers, and vendors.
- Ability to conduct research into server issues and products as required.
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides.
