A Day in the Life

As a Manufacturing Maintenance Technician II, you will help keep our advanced manufacturing equipment operating safely, efficiently, and reliably to support the production of life-changing medical technologies. In this role, you'll perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and equipment improvements across a variety of manufacturing systems. You'll collaborate with engineers, production teams, and fellow technicians to maximize equipment performance while supporting Medtronic's commitment to quality, safety, and operational excellence.

This is a fully onsite position (1st shift, M-F 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM) based in North Haven, CT, where in-person collaboration is essential to supporting our manufacturing operations and delivering life-changing therapies.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing equipment used in medical device production.
  • Diagnose equipment failures, identify root causes, and repair or replace mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, hydraulic, and electronic components.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and improve equipment reliability.
  • Troubleshoot machine controllers, electrical systems, PLC-controlled equipment, robotics, vacuum pumps, and other automated manufacturing systems.
  • Utilize technical drawings, electrical schematics, diagrams, specifications, manuals, and work instructions to complete repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, testing instruments, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
  • Accurately document maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and equipment history in maintenance management systems and repair logs.
  • Partner with engineering and manufacturing teams to support equipment upgrades, process improvements, and reliability initiatives.
  • Assist with redesigning or modifying mechanical, electrical, electronic, optical, or vacuum systems for integration into existing manufacturing equipment.
  • Support equipment installations, commissioning, validations, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Estimate labor, materials, and equipment needs for maintenance projects and prepare requisitions when needed.
  • Maintain compliance with Medtronic quality standards, regulatory requirements, and safety procedures.
  • Contribute ideas that improve equipment performance, manufacturing efficiency, and overall operational excellence.

Must Have: Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1+ years of related experience

Nice to Have: Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience as a Manufacturing Maintenance Technician, Industrial Maintenance Mechanic, Manufacturing Mechanic, Industrial Electrician, Mechatronics Technician, or in a related maintenance role supporting manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing automated manufacturing equipment in a production environment.
  • Working knowledge of machine controllers, PLCs, robotics, electrical systems, vacuum pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience diagnosing electrical, mechanical, and control system failures.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Experience supporting equipment process improvements, machine modifications, and reliability initiatives.
  • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment such as medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a continuous improvement mindset.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$51,200.00 - $76,800.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Operations Incentive Plan (OIP).
