OVERVIEW

Intro to Position

NPR is seeking a strategic and collaborative Salesforce Business Analyst to join a dedicated team focused on innovating and maintaining our enterprise Salesforce CRM. NPR’s Salesforce ecosystem is a critical driver of our organizational mission, powering operations that range from newsletter subscriptions and donor management to supporting our nationwide network of Member organizations and digital experiences for millions of public media listeners.

In this role, you will bridge the gap between business objectives and technical implementation. Working closely with diverse stakeholders, product managers, and development teams, you will strategically design, document, and refine our Salesforce data model and platform architecture. The ideal candidate is a natural problem-solver who can translate complex requirements into elegant, scalable Salesforce solutions, communicating seamlessly across varying levels of technical expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Requirements Elicitation & Scoping: Facilitate collaborative workshops with stakeholders across NPR to elicit, analyze, and document business processes and functional requirements.
  • User Story Creation: Author clear, actionable user stories, acceptance criteria, and comprehensive process maps to guide development efforts.
  • Roadmap Alignment: Partner closely with Product Managers to evaluate incoming business requests, assess strategic value, and prioritize the Salesforce backlog.
  • Solution Design Collaboration: Collaborate with Senior Salesforce Administrators and Developers to design scalable solutions that optimize platform capabilities while safeguarding data model integrity.
  • Impact & Dependency Analysis: Partner with technical teams to assess how new requirements affect existing platform architectures, upstream/downstream integrations, and dependent business systems.
  • UAT & Enablement Leadership: Design user acceptance testing (UAT) scripts, coordinate testing cycles, and author end-user training materials to ensure seamless feature adoption.
  • Project Delivery Coordination: Serve as a functional lead on project teams, tracking project health, proactively managing delivery timelines, and keeping key stakeholders aligned.
  • Governance & Best Practices: Promote platform standards and Salesforce-native best practices across cross-divisional teams to minimize technical debt.
  • Relationship Management: Cultivate trusted partnerships with internal departments and cross-functional technology peers, fostering an environment of collaboration and mutual support.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of dedicated experience in business analysis, requirements translation, and functional design within the Salesforce ecosystem.
  • Platform Knowledge: Solid working knowledge of core Salesforce capabilities, configuration options, security models, and declarative automation tools.
  • Project Delivery: Demonstrated success leading or driving functional phases of cross-functional Salesforce projects from discovery through to deployment.
  • Stakeholder Facilitation: Proven ability to facilitate requirements-gathering sessions with non-technical business partners and translate operational needs into technical specifications.
  • Platform Certification: Salesforce Certified Business Analyst certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry Experience: Experience working with the Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) or deep familiarity with non-profit donor engagement and CRM processes.
  • Ecosystem Tools: Familiarity with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, integrations, or related digital communication components

Required Skills/Competencies

  • Requirements Engineering: Advanced proficiency in mapping business processes, writing robust user stories, and establishing clear acceptance criteria.
  • Communicative Clarity: Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with a proven ability to distill technical architectural concepts into plain-language value propositions for business leads.
  • Prioritization & Adaptability: Proven ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously, maintaining high-quality delivery amidst shifting timelines.
  • Analytical Problem Solving: Strong critical thinking skills, with an aptitude for identifying process bottlenecks and designing proactive, platform-native solutions.
  • Inclusive Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to building collaborative, inclusive relationships across technical and non-technical teams.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field, OR equivalent hands-on professional work experience.

Work Location & Requirements

  • NPR Remote-Permitted: This is a remote-permitted role. This role is based out of our Washington, D.C. office, but the employee may choose to work on a remote basis from a location that NPR approves. You will have the option of working (a) remotely from a location of your choosing within the United States that is supported by NPR; (b) on-site at an NPR facility, based on the availability of desks and approval from NPR; or (c) a combination of both.
