POSITION: Banquet Barback

DEPARTMENT: Food & Beverage

REPORTS TO: Food & Beverage Manager and/or Banquet Captain

FLSA STATUS: Part-time hourly, Non-Exempt

THE ROLE

Primary responsibility is to assist bartenders with ice, glassware, and additional product at bars as required during the events. A Banquet Barback must have a TAMS or TIPS and Food Handler certification as required by Municipality/State law.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains inventory and stock of all supplies at all bar locations.
  • Maintains rules and regulations of Health and Sanitation Laws, as well as safe transfer/storage procedures.
  • Responsible for keeping all product storage areas locked and secured during events.
  • Reports to work in appropriate uniform, for assigned location and event Function Order (Banquet Event Order).
  • Maintains organized and clean storeroom.
  • Enters transfers onto inventory sheets.
  • Stands in for bartenders during breaks.
  • Assists in running dirty glassware to kitchen.
  • Other duties as assigned by Food and Beverage Management.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be 21+ years of age and be TIPS/TAMS and Food Handler certified, provide a valid copy of the Certification Card and carry Card at all times while on duty.
  • Must have sufficient math ability to accurately count inventory.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to communicate, receive and execute instructions via radio.
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal Health Department standards.
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations regarding alcohol service.
  • Must have ability to take directions and effectively perform the work.
  • Must speak and understand English well enough to converse with customers, supervisors and employees.
  • Must have an outgoing, positive attitude in dealing with patrons & employees.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Location: On Site at the Anchorage Convention Centers

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Work hours may range from very early morning to late night.
  • Work is primarily indoors. Some outdoor work may be required.
  • Work will be performed in many different areas of the Anchorage Convention Centers, as well as off-premise, including the Alaska Railroad.
  • Work will involve a considerable amount of walking, lifting, and other high-exertion activities.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in a crowded, high-activity, high-demand environment.
  • Flexibility is required, as to the ability to meet all requests upon demand.
  • Requires working under deadlines or pressure, dealing with difficult people or situations involving complex issues, and establishing and maintaining cooperative and productive work relationships.
