Vantor is seeking a Supervisor to lead the Operations Support Engineers, a mission-focused technical operations team supporting satellite ground systems, system health monitoring, anomaly response, and 24x7 operational readiness. This role will oversee day-to-day ground system operations while partnering closely with customers, vendors, service owners, product owners, engineering teams, and operations leadership to improve system performance, operator readiness, and mission outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a technical operations team responsible for ground system monitoring, troubleshooting, anomaly resolution, and mission support.
  • Manage team scheduling and staffing coverage for 24x7 operations, balancing mission needs, employee availability, workload, and coverage gaps.
  • Oversee ground system telemetry trending, system health analysis, operational metrics, and reporting to support leadership awareness and engineering decision-making.
  • Coordinate with operations leaders and technical teams to support major incident investigation, resolution, large-scale deployments, operational risk review, and lessons learned.
  • Partner with service owners and product owners to establish KPIs, identify trends, and drive measurable improvements in operational performance.
  • Advocate for operator needs, system improvements, and enhancement requests that improve team readiness, reduce recurring issues, and strengthen mission support.
  • Support vendor relationships and investigations through recurring reviews, performance metrics, deliverables, and follow-up actions.
  • Support the development and improvement of operational tools, automation, documentation, and cloud-based capabilities.
  • Create and contribute to technical documentation, including operational procedures, proposals, design documentation, statements of work, and other support materials.
  • Clearly and effectively communicate and coordinate with customers, external vendors, and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with an active Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field. Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree
  • 2-3 years of experience in satellite ground systems and operations.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and technical acumen
  • Ability to a lead a 24x7 team in a collaborative environment
  • Minimum of 1-2 years previous experience in management or as a project lead in a related technical or engineering field

Preferred skills:

  • Manage and organize multiple projects and priorities.
  • Experience in a Linux operating environment
  • Experience with programming and scripting languages (e.g. Ruby, Python, Java)
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services
  • Familiarity with Kibana and Elasticsearch to perform calculations and data analysis
  • Familiarity with GitHub
  • Experience with build CI/CD systems like Jenkins, Travis, or Team Foundation Server (TFS)
  • Strong ethical, cross-functional leadership abilities.
  • High level of emotional intelligence and flexibility with diverse communication styles
  • Strong ability to communicate at all levels of the organization and across departments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with inquisitive, analytical, and problem-solving minds.

● The base pay for this position within Colorado is: $93,000.00 - $123,360.00 - $135,696.00 annually.
