TITLE: Career Advisor (WorkSource)
REPORTS TO: Team Lead
LOCATION: Tacoma, WA
Career Team is looking for a high energy, service driven individual to be a Career Advisor and serve our Adult and Dislocated Workers in Pierce County by helping them connect to employment and training opportunities. This role provides comprehensive case management, career planning, eligibility determination, and ongoing support to participants seeking employment and training opportunities. Career Advisors guide participants from initial enrollment through successful employment and program completion while ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local workforce program requirements.
The ideal candidate will be able to work well autonomously while maintaining and strengthening partnerships with existing partners. Work will be performed under the WIOA (Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act) Program underneath the Pierce County WorkSource umbrella. Work will be performed under the supervision of the Team Lead. Your Impact on Career TEAM’s Success:
- Provide intensive case management services to registered customers within the One-Stop system.
- Become a subject matter expert on labor market and career trends.
- Complete intake, eligibility determination, enrollment, and service planning in accordance with applicable workforce program policies and procedures.
- Assess jobseekers’ employment and training needs and abilities through interviewing, testing and other methods.
- Enter data into participant information systems and other required databases in accordance with One-Stop system requirements.
- Guide jobseekers through the preparation of individual employment plans (IEP) based on their specific occupational goals.
- Counsel clients on available job opportunities, training programs and other services.
- Complete Individual Training Account (ITA) vouchers and other documents required for clients entering training.
- Refer individuals to appropriate services, training programs or job opportunities and follow-up on those activities.
- Conduct orientation sessions, workshops, job clubs and other group presentations for clients.
- Follow all policies, procedures and regulations related to eligibility documentation, ensuring case files contain eligibility documentation as required.
- Maintain accurate individual case files for each registered customer assuring that each file contains all required eligibility documents and meets compliance requirements.
- Develop a comprehensive Individual Employment Plan (IEP) for all customers. Provide referral and tracking of eligible customers into contracted programs provided on-site at the One-Stop centers and/or located in the community in accordance with established contracts.
- Meet or exceed established performance goals related to participant enrollments, training services, employment outcomes, documentation quality, and customer service.
- Participate in all staff-related events as required including but not limited to: training, staff meetings and individual supervision.
- Complete all required reports.
- Approach each day and task with a “ZAG” mindset.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
This position allows some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform 80% of work onsite at the listed location.
- 2+ years of work experience combining elements of training, counseling, case management or other services;
- Demonstrated case management experience and the ability to read and interpret policies and procedures;
- Ability to work in a variety of settings with culturally-diverse customer base and demonstrate cultural sensitivity.
- Ability to serve as a role model to customers and motivate them towards achieving goals.
- Strong computer literacy, including proficiency with Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Calendar), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), web-based case management systems, project management software (e.g., Monday.com), virtual meeting platforms, and internet-based applications.
- Ability to meet and/or exceed set goals and objectives.
- Excellent interpersonal, time management, customer service, organizational skills and written and verbal communication skills.

- AA degree or higher preferred, but not required.
- Experience in recruiting or marketing services.
- Experience with and knowledge of WIOA, TANF, or workforce development contracts/programs.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and take initiative.
Salary: $25.48 - $26.44 per hour
