WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview): The Volunteer Services Senior Specialist supports volunteer recruitment and engagement activities within the region:
- Develop and implement broad-based recruitment strategies to attract and identify Red Cross volunteers to effectively support Regional goals and mission critical activities.
- Support the implementation and execution of programs, projects and initiatives to increase and strengthen the engagement of volunteers.
- Perform screenings, referrals, and placement of prospective volunteers to effectively support Regional goals and mission critical activities.
Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State and local regulations. Work From Home (Nebraska): Nebraska residency required. Travel throughout Omaha/Council Bluffs and Western Nebraska as needed. No relocation assistance provided.
1: Utilize comprehensive recruitment strategies to meet assigned volunteer recruitment metrics, effectively support goals and ensure placement of sufficient numbers of volunteers to meet operational needs. Conduct general and targeted outreach and recruiting activities through various resource pools, networks and digital media to obtain volunteer applicants tracked to referral and approval. Maintain accurate records of all potential and actual volunteer leads through the appropriate tools. Produce status reports as directed. 2: Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with key volunteer recruitment agencies/organizations, market segments, and populations to create a robust network and strong candidate pipeline for future needs. Assist in screening and referring volunteers to appropriate department opportunities. Partner with assigned staff to strengthen existing relationships, and identify and evaluate prospective volunteer recruitment sources and partnerships. May assist in scheduling and coordinating volunteer orientations, placements, meetings and events. 3: Evaluate and modify recruitment and engagement strategies based on lessons-learned. Support the development and ongoing refinement of volunteer strategies. 4: Provide coaching and guidance to volunteer teams (paid and volunteers) and foster a culture of volunteerism that supports engagement strategies across departments. Contribute expertise and serve as a resource for volunteer engagement best practices. Review volunteer satisfaction data and work with operational teams to develop and execute engagement and retention strategies to improve volunteer satisfaction within the assigned area Implement strategies and tactics to drive volunteer engagement and provide input on volunteer engagement issues. 5: Responsible for development of a thorough volunteer needs assessment for assigned area. Meet with stakeholders and ensure alignment of established goals to volunteer needs. Monitor the appropriate usage and implementation of the assessment needs through department collaboration and mutual accountability for results. Support volunteer programs and services to meet established goals and objectives.
6: Assist with executing the Event Based Volunteer plan
Education: Bachelor's degree required. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of related experience. Management Experience: N/A
Skills & Abilities: Ability to work on a team. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and presentation skills. Good organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple and continuously evolving priorities effectively. Intermediate proficiency with MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Knowledge of group dynamics, customer maintenance techniques, negotiation skills, and the ability to effectively implement programs is preferred.
Travel: May involve travel.
