Job Summary:

Under the direction of the PI and senior scientists, the Laboratory Technician will be responsible for the daily maintenance of human pluripotent stem cells and 3D cerebral organoids to study human cortical development and neurodevelopmental disorders in vitro.

Job-Specific Responsibilities:

Using established technical procedures, the Lab Technician will record results of experiments, prepare matter for analysis and diagnosis, and assist with performing molecular/phenotypic characterizations, and tissue histology, depending on time constraints and the needs of the lab. The Laboratory Technician will also assist with and perform other related duties and general laboratory tasks, depending on time constraints and the needs of the lab.

This position is ideal for candidates interested in the burgeoning stem cell field and is a unique opportunity for interacting in a highly collaborative and dynamic environment and to be trained in a variety of experimental approaches. Direct training by postdocs in the lab will be provided.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience with basic biological laboratory techniques is required.

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

BS/BA in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Neuroscience or related field required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least one year of directly related, full-time experience in a research lab is strongly recommended. Extensive part-time research experience will also be considered. Prior experience with mammalian cell culture, especially stem cell and neuronal cultures, is strongly preferred. Excellent organizational and time management skills, as well as critical thinking skills and strong attention to detail are required. Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with all levels of staff and with external contacts in a fast-paced environment is required.
