POSITION PROFILE:

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Certified HVAC Specialist to join our Engineering team. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing HVAC equipment throughout the hotel to ensure a safe, comfortable, and efficient environment for our guests and team members. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to providing exceptional service while maintaining hotel standards.

Salary for this position is $25 - $30 per hour

Essential Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC systems, including rooftop units, split systems, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, exhaust systems, and related equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance according to established schedules.
  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration issues.
  • Maintain proper refrigerant handling procedures in accordance with EPA regulations.
  • Respond promptly to guest room HVAC issues and engineering work orders.
  • Monitor building automation and energy management systems.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and repair records.
  • Assist with plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general maintenance projects as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, local, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors when specialized repairs are required.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and respond to emergency maintenance situations.
  • Support hotel operations by maintaining equipment reliability and minimizing downtime.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal preferred).
  • HVAC certification from an accredited technical school preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of commercial HVAC maintenance experience; hotel experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems, electrical controls, motors, compressors, and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Working knowledge of building automation systems is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work on rooftops, and access mechanical rooms.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crawl, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.

Schedule

  • Full-time
  • Must be available to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and participate in an on-call rotation as needed.
