Culinary Excellence and Resident Experience

  • Prepare and present fresh, restaurant-quality meals with exceptional taste, appearance and consistency.
  • Deliver an elevated dining experience through attention to presentation, flavor profiles and personalized service.
  • Prepare meals in accordance with standardized recipes, seasonal menus and luxury hospitality standards.
  • Ensure all meals are prepared and served promptly while maintaining the highest culinary quality.
  • Accommodate special dietary requests, therapeutic diets and resident preferences with care and precision.
  • Support a welcoming and hospitality-focused dining atmosphere that enhances resident engagement and satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with the Dining Services team to create memorable dining experiences for residents and guests.

Food Safety and Kitchen Operations

  • Utilize production sheets and Sunrise systems to accurately document food production, cooking temperatures, holding temperatures and cooling logs.
  • Maintain strict compliance with all food safety, sanitation and infection prevention standards.
  • Properly stock, rotate, label, date and store food products in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain clean, organized and inspection-ready kitchen, prep, storage and service areas.
  • Complete daily and weekly cleaning assignments and ensure cleaning logs are accurate and up to date.
  • Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation; report repair or maintenance needs promptly.
  • Comply with national/provincial regulations pertaining to occupational health and safety requirements and Risk Management programs and policies, including use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), fire safety procedures and Lockout/Tagout protocols.

Team Support and Service Operations

  • Assist with overall dining services operations and support team members as needed to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Perform dishwashing and sanitation duties to maintain cleanliness and operational efficiency.
  • Operate dish machines and kitchen equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Perform light housekeeping and janitorial tasks within culinary and service areas.
  • Assist with dining room service and resident engagement during meal periods as needed.
  • Support special events, celebrations, and community hospitality functions.

  • Participate actively in achieving team and community goals.
  • Demonstrate the Sunrise Team Member Credo in all resident, guest and team member interactions.
  • Uphold the Principles of Service by delivering compassionate, personalized hospitality.
  • Contribute to resident engagement and community programming through culinary creativity and participation.
  • Attend required meetings, including Town Hall, Department Team, and Cross Over meetings.
  • Maintain compliance in assigned required training and all training required by state/province or other regulating authorities as applicable to this role to ensure that Sunrise standards are always met.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed throughout this job description are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

  • Three (3) years of culinary experience in a restaurant, hotel, country club, resort, senior living, or similar hospitality environment preferred
  • Experience preparing upscale or scratch-made cuisine strongly preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Culinary school education, apprenticeship, or advanced culinary training preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and safe food handling procedures
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in a hospitality-driven environment

Pay Range:

21.30 - 26.70
