Shift FB B: The regular hours for this position are Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and every other Saturday from 7:00pm to 7:15am. You will receive a 15% shift differential for working on the night shift.

Job Description

The Assembly Lead & Trainer is a highly skilled manufacturing role working in a clean room or controlled electronics assembly environment. This position performs advanced precision assembly, micro-soldering, and repair work while providing daily technical guidance and training to manufacturing operators.

This role serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for micro-assembly and rework processes and supports production execution, operator capability, and quality improvement. The Assembly Lead & Trainer helps ensure production goals, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities:

Production and Assembly Work

  • Perform advanced precision assembly, micro-soldering, SMT repair, and component replacement.
  • Work with extremely small components using microscopes and precision tools.
  • Follow detailed work instructions, assembly drawings, and process specifications.
  • Inspect work to ensure compliance with quality and workmanship standards.
  • Identify and report equipment, material, or process issues.

Production Leadership and Floor Support

  • Support daily production activities to meet output, quality, and schedule goals.
  • Act as the technical lead during shift for assembly and rework activities.
  • Assist operators with complex or escalated repairs before engineering escalation.
  • Help coordinate workflow and ensure consistent execution across shifts and workstations.
  • Communicate issues and updates to supervisors, engineering, and quality teams.

Training and Coaching

  • Train operators on micro-soldering, SMT repair, component replacement, and inspection standards.
  • Demonstrate correct use of microscopes, tools, and safe work practices.
  • Support onboarding, training programs, and operator certification.
  • Evaluate operator proficiency and provide feedback to improve quality and consistency.
  • Help develop training materials, work instructions, and visual aids.

Technical Problem Solving

  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for precision assembly and rework processes.
  • Support troubleshooting of assembly, soldering, or equipment issues.
  • Analyze basic production or defect trends to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with engineering on process improvements, testing, and new product introduction.

Quality, Safety, and Continuous Improvement

  • Reinforce adherence to IPC workmanship standards and internal quality requirements.
  • Follow clean room protocols, ESD controls, and safety procedures.
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective actions for defects or yield issues.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities (e.g., standard work, 5S).
  • Maintain accurate production, inspection, and training records.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • IPC certifications preferred (e.g., IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, IPC-7711/7721).
  • Experience in semiconductor, probe card, aerospace, or medical device manufacturing.
  • Experience in high-reliability or precision manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with SMT processes and electronics troubleshooting.
  • Experience training, mentoring, or leading others preferred.
