We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician (Mechanical) to join our Biologics maintenance team. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and adaptable technician with a strong background in maintenance support within a highly automated, regulated manufacturing environment.

In this role, you will carry out planned and unplanned maintenance across robotic packaging, aseptic manufacturing, and filling equipment. You will troubleshoot and optimize mechanical systems to help ensure the highest levels of equipment reliability, product quality, and operational continuity. Working as part of a multi-disciplined team of Electricians, Mechanical Fitters, and Engineers, you will play a key role in supporting improvement opportunities and maintaining a safe, compliant, and efficient operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and unplanned maintenance on manufacturing, filling, and packaging equipment using a Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM) approach.
  • Troubleshoot and fault-find automatic, semi-automatic, and batch manufacturing equipment, using Continuous Improvement and Root Cause Problem Solving (RCPS) techniques.
  • Ensure all equipment is repaired to the highest standards.
  • Support equipment projects from design through to installation.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, efficiency, and compliance with Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety requirements, training, and regulations.
  • Assist with on-call duties as required.
  • Maintain up-to-date training through eLMS.
  • Update SAP promptly to control spare parts reordering and support maintenance records.
  • Engage with vendors and parts suppliers to source non-stock parts.
  • Complete plant downtime notifications in SAP for all instances of downtime, including time down, corrective actions, preventive actions, and parts used.
  • National Craft Senior Trades Mechanical qualification is essential.
  • Experience troubleshooting in a highly automated pharmaceutical or similar regulated environment.
  • Experience with aseptic filling lines, autoclaves, lyophilization, packaging operations, automated inspection lines, and robotic packing.
  • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, pick-and-place robotics, control pneumatics, IPCs, PC-based tools, vision systems, VSDs, servo drives, and SCADA.
  • Proficiency in SAP for maintenance requisitions and spare parts control.
  • Willingness to work a set shift pattern, which will be either weekend shift or night shift.
  • Willingness to travel to equipment vendors as required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative team approach.
  • Flexibility to take on additional duties as required.
